There is a new law going into effect October 6th, 2014 regarding hydrocodone making it a schedule II drug up from a schedule III.  Now a triplicate handwritten prescription from the prescriber, usually a physician, will be required … and there won’t be refills unless you see the doctor again in person.

All I can say is I’m glad I had my pain when I had my pain because relief is going to become a whole lot harder to come by.  While I used Tylenol #3 (acetaminophen with 30 mG of codeine) for my painful periods, there are many women who use hydrocodone (brand names Vicodin or Norco) because they can’t tolerate codeine.  Oddly enough when I had my uterus, pre-hysterectomy, I could not tolerate hydrocodone — it made me very, very nauseous … sometimes with vomiting.  But voila out comes my uterus and I can tolerate hydrocodone without problems…
